Porsche has unveiled details on its new Taycan Turbo GT and the Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach package. Peak power is 1,108PS for two seconds with launch control. 0 to 62 mph takes 2.2 seconds, with a top speed of 190mph. Porsche has reduced the weight of the Taycan Turbo GT by 75 kg versus the Taycan Turbo S. This reduction has been contributed by the use of carbon fibre, full bucket seats made of CFRP, lightweight luggage compartment, and no electric soft-closing tailgate. The Taycan Turbo GT also features lightweight ceramic brakes as standard. It can be ordered with no rear seats.
Last month, the Taycan Turbo GT equipped with the Weissach package set the fastest lap for an electric series-production car around the Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca in California, with a time of 1:27.87.
The two records in Laguna Seca and on the Nordschleife show what great track potential there is in the Taycan. To prove your mettle on the track, it’s not enough to simply have as much power as possible. The overall package of accelerating and braking, cornering grip, aerodynamics, stability and fine-tuning has to be right. In the Taycan Turbo GT and the Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach package in particular, our engineers have achieved this in absolutely stunning fashion. They have already done a great job with the recently updated existing Taycan models. But our new GT cars yet again clearly raise the bar even higher in terms of driving dynamics.
