Open top motoring is the name of the game here but get it before its gone!
There will only be 500 ever made.
The difference between this and the 675LT coupe is the new 3 piece folding hardtop roof that can be opened at 19 mph. When opened it will then retract and stows below a tonneau cover. The good news is that the engine will still be visible through a lightweight polycarbonate engine cover. McLaren think of everything.
Its beating heart is the same 3.8 litre twin turbo which it shares with the coupe but McLaren have revised the powertrain. New turbos, cylinder heads, new camshaft, connecting rods, faster fuel pump and exhaust manifolds. More than 50% of the parts are re engineered.
Something that I think is remarkable is despite removing the roof and adding a retractable roof, the weight of the 675LT Spider has only increased by 40kg compared with the coupe. This is all down to the strength of the carbon fibre tub which is all around you when you are sitting in the car.
