This is the new limited edition BMW i8 Protonic Red Edition.
The Protonic Red paint is exclusively created for the i8 with Frozen Grey metallic accents and 20 inch Orbit Grey BMW W-spoke alloy wheels.
Inside it is finished with unique red double stitching and carbon fibre trims.

The engine is the same as the standard i8 with a 1.5 litre 3 cylinder turbo petrol unit producing 231hp.  This powers the rear wheels.  Its other power source is the electric hybrid motor at the front wheels which produces 131hp and powers the front wheels.

The electric motor can be driven up to 23 miles alone and has a top speed of 75mph. It can provide the petrol engine with some boost when accelerating hard.

Its battery unit is positioned low in a central position in the i8 giving it a near 50:50 weight distribution. This is brilliant for the car handling and feel.

Ian Robertson, BMW AG Board Member for Sales and Marketing said

BMW i8 speaks for itself, it is already the world’s most successful hybrid sports car and has comfortably exceeded our own expectations. I can think of no better illustration of the relevance of our young BMW i brand.” And the BMW i8 is about to add further lustre to its appeal with exclusive special-edition models poised to be unveiled for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show. The new arrivals present customers with even more ways to own a very individual car.
