During an online event last night, Audi launched its all new all-electric e-tron GT.

Prices will start from £79,900 on the road for the e-tron GT and for £110,950 on the road for the flagship RS e-tron GT.

The RS e-tron GT can produce 646 ps in boost mode, 0 to 62 mph only takes 3.3 seconds and it has a top speed of 155 mph. Its 800-volt 93kwh battery should give it a driving range of over 280 miles.

Both e-tron models feature two electric motors – one in the front and one at the rear. One of the jobs for the electric rear motor is to  transfer torque to the two-speed transmission.

Sustainability was definitely the buzz word of the online launch event.

You can order the e-tron with an optional leather-free interior which includes artificial leather and a new material called Cascade. This material is produced using recycled materials such as plastic bottles and polyester fibres. Alcantara (which is a favourite interior of mine) has been replaced with a material called Dinamica. This material has also been produced using recycled fibres and apparently it looks and feels just like Alcantara. The floor carpet and mats are made from Econyl and this material consists of 100 percent recycled nylon fibres.

Expect to see one in your Audi showroom very soon.
