In anticipation for the launch of the new Mercedes-Benz SL (R 232) model, here are all the SL’s together with model numbers spanning from 1952 – 2015 and how many production cars were built.
From front right to left:
- Mercedes-Benz 300 SL racing sports car from 1952 (W 194)
- Mercedes-Benz 300 SL prototype racing sports car (W 194/11) for the 1953 season
- Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Coupé “Gullwing” from 1957 (W 198) total of 1,400 were built
- Mercedes-Benz 190 SL from 1961 (W 121) total 25,881 were built
- Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster from 1960 (W 198) 1,858 were built
- Mercedes-Benz 280 SL Pagoda from 1970 (W 113) 48,912 were built
- Mercedes-Benz 350 SL from 1971 (R 107) 62,888 were built
- Mercedes-Benz SL 600 from 1995 (R 129) 204,940 were built
- Mercedes-Benz SL 55 AMG from 2003 (R 230) 169,433 total built
- Mercedes-Benz SL 500 Special Edition “Mille Miglia 417” from 2015 (R 231)
