Walking around the Paris Motorshow, I stumbled onto the Suzuki stand. It was the European Debut of the new Suzuki Ignis.

Now, I do have a soft spot for Suzuki, I was first introduced to the brand by way of driving them as a hire cars when in Barbados. I can’t knock the little Suzuki’s. Barbados can be a tough place on cars but they are a real work horse that always want to please the driver. So while my eyes landed on this very charming dinky crossover car, I couldn’t help but smile.

This new Igins crossover has robust looking character like all Suzuki’s seem to have.  City driving will be a doddle in this. It has a minimum 180mm of ground clearance so you can go off roading a little in it. Just think of it riding over the pot holes on some Barbados roads with ease. How about speed ramps and slightly smaller pot holes in the UK? Easy I’m sure. The driving position will be higher enabling you to have a better view around you. It will be easy to get into and out of, I’ll bet its even going to be easy to park. Its not big from the outside at all. There seems to be an easy form to this blog!!

It has the now familiar black A and B pillars like the Swift and quite fetching LED headlights.

There will be a choice of 14 body colours.

In the rear it has generous luggage capacity of 267 litres with sliding rear seats which fold down.

It has a new 1.2 DUALJET petrol engine and will be also available with Suzuki new SHVS, Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki system.

2 wheel and 4 wheel drive will be available.

Choice of 2 transmissions. A 5 speed manual and a 5 speed AGS (Auto Gear Shift).

The AGS transmission is a 5 speed manual with the car operating the clutch and the gear selection.

I think one of the best kept motoring secrets is Suzuki and I think they may have produced yet another little gem.

Have a look at the Suzuki concept cars blog I posted back on the 5 of October 2015 https://webloganycar.co.uk/new-suzuki-concept-cars The Ignis is there and it doesn’t look much different from the concept picture.

Well done Suzuki.
