It has been more than 30 years since Mercedes – AMG launched their first sports coupe – the 300 CE600, or also known as “The Hammer”.
I wanted to share with you a brief run through the Mercedes – AMG coupe model history.
The model history below.
1988 – 300 CE 6.0 AMG “The Hammer” in wide body version
- 5.6 litre V8 engine
- 385 hp
- 417 lb-ft torque
1993 – E36 AMG Coupe
- 3.6 litre engine
- 272 hp
1997 – CLK 55 AMG. It was based on the first Official F1 Safety Car.
- 5.5 litre V8 engine
- 342 hp
- 376 lb-ft torque
- 0 – 60 mph 5.3 seconds
2007 – CLK 63 Black Series. This was also based on the Official F1TM Safety car.
- 6.3 litre V8 engine
- 500 hp
- 465 lb-ft torque
- 0 – 60 mph 4.2 seconds
- 186 mph top speed limited
2020 – E53 Coupe. What will it look like? As soon as I know I’ll let you know.
- 3.0 litre engine
- 429 hp
- 384 lb-ft torque
