In this, the first of 2 blogs, I wanted to highlight 2 of the best electric cars from the Geneva International Motor Show.  In my opinion I think that they both look stunning, but most of all….they don’t look like Electric Vehicles (EV).

The first is the new Jaguar I-PACE.  The new I-PACE is easy on the eye – it has smooth, sweeping, soft body lines.  From the moment that you first see it….you can instantly tell that it’s a Jaguar – with its big grill and thin headlights.

Inside it has that same familiar “Jaguar” feel.  It doesn’t have that plastic, synthetic feel or wacky design to the interior, that some electric cars have today.  To be honest, whilst sitting inside the I-PACE, you wouldn’t really know it’s a battery powered car until you drive off….and this is one of the many reasons why I was really impressed with this car.

Both the interior and exterior design doesn’t cry out – “I’m an Electric Vehicle.”  So, it’s not trying look cool, hip or after a huge thumbs up for its green credentials (even though it does all 3 in a typically British reserved way).

The dashboard is well laid out with a perfectly sized touch screen display, which is smoothly integrated within the dashboard design beneath the air vents.  The heater controls are a joy to use and look like a work of art.

There are conventional buttons on the centre console which are – drive, neutral, reverse and the electronic hand brake.

To me, this is a good mix between  good old push buttons and the “future” touch screens.

The interior was bright and really welcoming.

I was also impressed with the front seats of this car.  I was expecting them to be firm and uncomfortable (mainly because of how they looked). They are so thin….they look like racing seats and something that would usually be found in an F-TYPE.

However, I was wrong!!  From my brief time within the car, I found the seats really supportive and cushioned well.  After adjusting the seats and the steering wheel, I quickly found a good driving position.

Visibility out of the windscreen was good, this is helped by the huge windscreen and slightly raised driving position.

Wherever you sit in I-PACE….headroom is good. Another bonus is that the rear leg room is quite impressive.

Here is the rear luggage area.

We Blog Any Car thoughts……….

This car really impressed me because I simply see it as a Jaguar car and not an EV.  Expect to find all the superior build quality, and nice design touches, familiar with all the new Jaguar range ….minus a combustion engine!
