This is the new “all electric“ Fiat 500!!

I was really pleased to find that it still oozes all the charm of the long line of previous generation Fiat 500’s.

The model which I had a short drive in (around the Millbrook Test Circuit) was the Passion 87 kW – which produces 118 hp.

If you do choose to own (or test drive) a new 500, I am very confident that you will appreciate its design features from both inside and out.

Take a look at these buttons.

The interior feels durable and well made. It somehow feels much bigger than it really is?? Both the driver’s and passenger seat bases seem so wide and reminded me of the old 1970 – 1990 Lancia’s (anyone who has owned, or sat in, a Lancia Dedra/Thema know what I mean)!

The seats are comfy and have plenty of adjustment…so I could find my perfect driving position. Thankfully the seating position is still high (I felt as if as I was sitting on top rather than in) which I think is perfect for city driving and all round visibility.

Selecting D on the drive indicator switch meant that I was ready to set off. Power is pretty instant! It only takes 9 seconds to get from 0 – 62 mph. It actually feels a lot quicker than that. Do we really need to accelerate any faster than that for a small electric city car?

With the lack of engine sound, Fiat have done a good job of insulating the cabin from tyre and wind noise. It was all very quiet –  even driving at high speeds.

The steering is very direct and well weighted. I found that the new electric Fiat 500 proved to be both fun and involving.

Sadly, I didn’t have time to play with the other drive modes or the EV Drive Pedal (which uses regenerative braking to bring the car to a halt without needing to press the brake pedal).

Prices for the new Fiat 500 start from £23,495 on the road, this car (with all its optional extras) costs £29,510.00 on the road. If you are looking for a small electric city car which is both charming and fun to drive…. you must add it to your list of cars to test drive.

I think its perfect for the short city commute. It is a pretty cool looking car and my first impressions of the new all-electric Fiat 500 left me wanting to take it home with me.
