Renault Sport have increased the engine power for the new Megane R.S. Trophy. It is still using a 1.8 turbo engine…. but now it is produces 300 hp and 420 Nm of torque. This makes it the most powerful Renault Sport production car to date. This power increase is thanks to its new ceramic bearing in the turbo and a valve operated exhaust system. When the exhaust valve is open the full power from the engine is used.
0 to 62 mph takes 5.7 seconds using the manual gearbox. The EDC with the steering wheel gearshift paddles is also available.
The Megane R.S Trophy has Trophy stripes on the F1-style front spoiler and 19 inch Jerez alloy wheels. These feature a diamond cut finish with a red border.
Nico Hülkenberg, Renault Sport Formula One Team driver and Renault Sport ambassador said:
“I have been involved in the Mégane R.S. development process since last year and I’m very pleased to see an even sportier version added to the family! Each of the new features on New Renault Mégane R.S.Trophy offers greater sports performance and feel. It’s obviously positive to have more power and better grip through the tyres and to benefit from improved braking endurance. I also enjoyed the feeling offered by the new seats: the support they provide for sports driving is excellent.”
The order books will open this autumn.
