Could This Be The End Of The Car Key?

Volvo Cars are aiming to be the first car manufacturer to offer their customers cars without physical keys from 2017.

Volvo drivers will be offered an application on their phones to replace the car keys. You will be able to open and start the car with a new digital key app on your mobile phone.

“There are obviously many permutations when it comes to how this shared key technology can be used,” added Martin Rosenqvist, New Car Director, Special Products at Volvo Cars. “We look forward to seeing how else this technology might be used in the future and we welcome any and all ideas.”
