This 1986 one of only 4 right-hand drive Ford RS200 Evolution, will be going under the hammer at this months Iconic Auctioneers NEC Motor Show Sale.
This RS200 Evolution has only travelled 12 miles from new and had 3 owners. A total of 144 RS200s were built, with only 24 being Evolutions.
The RS200 is arguably the pinnacle of Group B rallying madness, showing just how far the envelope could be pushed. An incredible machine, so widely appreciated by young and old, the poster car ‘Ultimate Ford’ for many. A purpose-built rallying weapon, packing north of 500bhp, built exclusively to take the fight to the likes of the Audi Quattro, Peugeot T16 and Lancia Delta S4. Safety and comfort were thrown to the winds for the addition of speed, which was ultimately the downfall of Group B. We’re very fortunate to have dealt with a few RS200s, but #086 is something outstanding. To have spent its entire life sat on the sidelines, never turning a wheel in anger but always being on its toes, running and driving perfectly, it’s the collectors dream. Mechanically perfect, cosmetically wonderful and totally original with just 12 miles ever covered, it is a ‘New, old stock’ 0-60mph world record holder, in the ultimate specification of Ford’s road legal rally monster, a simply unmissable opportunity to acquire the car on the first and possibly only time it will reach the open market. This example perfectly represents the RS200. a fabulous machine that never ha to truly stretch its legs and prove itself.
Said Harry Fox-Edwards who sourced the car for Iconic.
Iconic Auctioneers have put a guide price for this special machine between £500,000 – £700,000.
