This is the new Volkswagen Atlas which will seat 7 adults and their luggage with ease.
Currently it is only being offered in the USA.
It is based on the VW Audi group familiar MQB platform with a length of 5,037 mm, a width of 1,979 mm and a height of 1,768 mm.
Until this vehicle was launched, VW or any car in the VAG group, didn’t offer anything like this in their range.
It is available in 2 and 4 wheel drive (4Motion) with the choice of 2 engines.
A 2.0 litre TSI four-cylinder turbo petrol engine (238PS) and a mighty 3.6 litre VR6 petrol engine (280PS).
Both engines come with a 8 speed auto gearbox.
Hinrich J. Woebcken, Volkswagen CEO of North America Region said
“This is the biggest and boldest Volkswagen we have ever built in the United States, delivering the distinctive design and craftsmanship we’re known for, now with room for seven.”
Maybe VW will see how well it does in other markets because from the latter part of 2017, the Atlas will be offered in Russian and middle Eastern markets. I do wonder if it is a success in the States, Russian and middle Eastern markets will it come to the UK?
I think that there IS a market for it over here AND in Europe.
