Well, VW have really pulled this rabbit out of the hat. This is the most powerful Golf GTI ever produced. It has broken the record for the fastest front wheel drive production car around the Nürburgring Nordschleife with a time of 07:49:21.
Only 400 of the limited editions Clubsport S will be made.
Power is 310PS and can go from 0 to 62 mph in just 5.8 seconds with a manual gearbox. Yipee!!
The weight of the Clubsport S has been reduced by 30 kg (compared to a normal GTI Clubsport) to 1,285 kg and it features no rear seats.

VW have even reconfigured the chassis and added a Nürburgring setting which sharpens up the adaptive suspension, engine, steering and the exhaust sound.
The exhaust system is all new with bigger tail pipes and cross section.
Keeping it all connected to the tarmac are 19-inch alloy wheels (“Pretoria”) and Michelin Sport Cup 2 semi-slicks tyres.

The colours of the limited edition are the same as the original GTI: “Tornado Red”, “Pure White” and “Deep Black Pearl Effect”.

Each of the 400 Golf GTI Clubsport S cars made will have its production number on the centre console.

The idea for the Golf GTI Clubsport S originated when the team responsible for the “normal” GTI at Volkswagen tested the final version of the current Golf GTI Performance on the racetrack. “It was obvious to all of us that this GTI had immense potential”, recalls Karsten Schebsdat, Head of Chassis Tuning, “so we decided to get the most performance possible out of this car. A small team went through the entire process, from bottom to top, pretty much like it was back when the first Golf GTI came into being.” In addition to the weight reduction and the improvement in performance already described above, two factors are of fundamental importance when it comes to designing a really fast car: optimal aerodynamics and an outstanding chassis, both of which are characteristics of the new Golf GTI Clubsport S.

This is a great way to mark the 40 years of the GOLF GTI!

I want a Golf GTI Clubsport S.  I have no news on price but if I had the money and room it would be in my garage for sure.

It will be a classic! Let me change that because it is already a classic.
