This is the new ALPINA B5 Bi-Turbo Touring which could be the world’s fastest production estate car.

Prices start in the UK for the Touring at £91,000 (saloon £89,000).  For this you will get a 4.4 litre 608 hp V8 Bi-Turbo engine. The heavily revised BMW engine has had a huge increase in power and torque.

Top speed is 205 mph and 0 to 60 mph will only take 3.5 seconds.

Interestly the rear brakes are bigger than the front because they receive less cooling. So the rear discs have a larger area to lose the heat.

ALPINA says,

their system provides greater retardation and resistance to fade than many equivalent ceramic systems, with excellent consistency and feel across a wider range of temperature.

The ALPINA B5 Bi-Turbo uses a 8 speed ZF auto transmission. A first for ALPINA B5 is Active Rear Steering. This makes the steering response sharper by tuning the rear wheels up to 2.5 degrees the opposite way to the front and then the same direction at higher speed.

Inside expect to find: Nappa leather seats, ALPINA Blue mood lighting, Blue mood instruments, sports steering wheel in Lavalina leather and a rear view camera.

“Our cars are for driving enthusiasts who value a blend off qualities that can only be delivered by immense attention to detail and a single-minded focus on one type of owner.”  “The B5 Bi-Turbo is built with just one powertrain and one chassis specification, which allows our engineers to calibrate every component and every control system to work perfectly together without compromise. ALPINA’s dynamics specialists have spent months honing the chassis, not hurling it around a race track but simply driving as customers would, on roads, enjoying every mile however fast or slow. The result is a pin-sharp driving experience combined with remarkable ride quality.
